Business Consulting

Want help planning and setting up a small business?

The Service Core for Retired Executives (SCORE) can help. Visits are the first Thursday of every month. An appointment is required. No charge. Spots are limited, so call the CRC at 812-988-5880.


Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

CCMA training is designed to prepare students to work in multiple healthcare settings.

Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks to assist doctors including assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. The CRC partners with Ivy Tech, Bloomington to provide this 14 week course. Call to register for our fall or spring session. Financial assistance is available through Next Level Jobs.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

CNA training is ideal for a student who wants to gain direct experience with patient care or for those who wish to test their interest in healthcare as a career.

A CNA program may help students who need direct patient care experience as an admission requirement for a higher level care program or those who wish to test their interest in healthcare as a career. It is a 9-week program that includes classroom sessions at the CRC and clinicals at the Brown County Health and Living Community. Cost is $1,025. For inquiries and registration, pick up a CNA packet of information at the CRC.


CompTIA A+

A+ delivers the necessary competencies, along with hands-on experience, needed for an entry-level Information Technology professional.

Students in this course will gain the knowledge required to assemble components based on customer requirements; install, configure, and maintain PCs and mobile devices for end users; understand the basics of networking; and properly and safely diagnose, resolve, and document common hardware and network issues while applying troubleshooting skills. Students will also learn the basics of virtualization, scripting, desktop imaging, and deployment. At least one year of experience working with hardware and software or computer networks is recommended. This program is provided in partnership with Ivy Tech Career Link. The cost is $2,500. Scholarships are available.

Electrical

The Career Resource Center is sponsoring six classes to help you prepare for the National Electrical Code (NEC) Block Test to become a licensed Master Electrician.

 This course will teach you the basics of residential and commercial electrical work and cover topics on the Master Electrician licensing exam. This class only includes in-person coursework at the CRC. On-the-job hours should be completed on your own time before taking the licensing exam. The exam is not included in the course. Each session is twelve weeks long. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 – 9:00 PM at the CRC. The cost is $350 per session. Scholarships are available.

HVAC Technician

This course will prepare you for an entry-level HVAC technician position.

HVAC training covers topics on the exam for the EPA 608 certification, which must be held by technicians who handle refrigerants. This course is offered as a hybrid, face-to-face and distance education course. In the first phase of training, you will prepare for  the North American Technician Excellence Ready-To-Work Certificate by studying component identification, tools, math and measurement, general safety, electrical safety, and basic heat transfer. You will also do some workforce preparation activities. When you have completed Phase I, you will enter the second phase of training. You will use an online course to learn core definitions, small appliances, high pressure appliances, and low pressure appliances in preparation for the EPA 608 certification exam. 

This course is offered remotely at the CRC in partnership with Broadview Learning Center in Bloomington. The class meets Monday – Thursday from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. The cost is $3,370. Scholarships are available.

Basic Computer Skills

The Career Resource Center offers a weekly Basic Computer Skills class for those who are looking to improve their foundational knowledge of computers.

This time is designed around the needs of the participants and can be used to work on skills such as typing, creating work documents, or searching the internet. This takes place every Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the CRC computer lab. There is no cost.

QuickBooks for Small Business

QuickBooks for Small Businesses is an introductory course on how to use QuickBooks Online for your accounting needs.

QuickBooks class meets for three consecutive evenings, three hours each evening, for a total of 9 hours of instruction. The cost is $180.00. For inquiries and registration contact the CRC at 812-988-5880.
