Brown County Schools offers a fully inclusive Preschool Program for children 3 to 5 years of age. A child is eligible enrollment on his/her third birthday. Positive classroom practices are the foundation for building a joyful community of learners.
The program is child-centered while providing the structure needed for children to feel safe within predictable routines. We respect that each child is uniquely individual and eagerly watch for and celebrate learning milestones as a natural outcome of play and guided learning activities.
Preschool classrooms are available at all three elementary schools. All programs have before and after school care. Before school care runs from 6:45 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. After school care runs from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Head Start is a holistic preschool program at no cost. Head Start Performance Standards are followed as well as Indiana licensing regulations to create and maintain a high-quality educational experience for children. The inclusive approach leads children to self-regulation through educational, health and well-being, social-emotional, physical activity and healthy food choice curriculums. Eligible first enrollees must be age three prior to August 1.
Services are offered to families who have incomes below the federal poverty guidelines.
Lori’s Ton “O” Fun Daycare, established in 2004, has three licensed daycares, each with a maximum capacity of 16 children.
