Waltman Construction 8th Grade Student of the Month for February
Congratulations to BCJHS January “Student of the Month”  Ashlyn Mercer.  Ashlyn was nominated by her Math Teacher Mr. Koopman.  According to Mr. Koopman, "Ashlyn is a very hard working student who takes pride in her work.  She is always willing to help me in the classroom and complete problems on the board when needed.  She is very polite and a pleasure to speak to during class.  I expect Ashlyn to be very successful in high school with her great attitude and work ethic.”  Ashlyn’s picture will be displayed at BCJHS during the month of February and will also appear on the BCJHS school webpage.  A special thanks to Waltman Construction for sponsoring the BCJHS “Student of the Month”.  Ashlyn will be receiving a “Student of the Month” plaque compliments of Waltman Construction. Congratulations to BCJHS January “Student of the Month” Liam Cassiday.  Liam was nominated by his Social Studies Teacher Mrs. Oliver.  According to Mrs. Oliver, "Liam always brightens my day!  He is hard working, respectful, and always has kind words for others.  He exemplifies our SOAR principles." Liam’s picture will be displayed at BCJHS during the month of February and will also appear on the BCJHS school webpage.  A special thanks to Waltman Construction for sponsoring the BCJHS “Student of the Month”.  Liam will be receiving a “Student of the Month” plaque compliments of Waltman Construction. BCJHS National Geographic Geography Bee



BCJHS National Geographic Geography Bee
BCJHS 7th grader Baylie Meyer was declared the top geography student at Brown County Jr High Monday night in the National Geographic Society's annual  GeoBee. Placing second was 8th grader William Hiatt and placing third was 8th grader Lexie Austin. 17 total participants and classroom winners competed for the school title and a chance to move on to the state competition in Indianapolis. Baylie will take a written geography test in early February and can move on to the state competition only if she is one of the top 100 scorers in the state on the written test in grades 4 through 8. Social Studies teacher Justin Schwenk organized the event after classroom competitions which included every junior high student.Geo Bee ParticipantsGeo Bee Top 3

Congratulations to BCJHS January “Student of the Month” Kemp Sizemore.  Kemp was nominated by his Health Teacher Mrs. Cochran.  According to Mrs. Cochran, "Kemp is a hard worker, and always on task.  He models our SOAR behavior expectations every day, and he is pleasant to work with.  I love how Kemp is always making an effort to do his best and model positive classroom behavior for his peers." Kemp’s picture will be displayed at BCJHS during the month of January and will also appear on the BCJHS school webpage.  A special thanks to Waltman Construction for sponsoring the BCJHS “Student of the Month”.  Kemp will be receiving a “Student of the Month” plaque compliments of Waltman Construction. Congratulations to BCJHS January “Student of the Month”  Ava Padgett.  Ava was nominated by her Social Studies Teacher Mr. Potts.  According to Mr. Potts, "Ava has been a natural leader in class.  She leads by example through her effort and positive attitude.  While she is quiet, she lends great levity to her classmates and the tasks needing completed.  She has a great sense of humor and is quick to assert herself as a leader, prompting her classmates to refocus when needed or lifting them up when facing difficulties.  I would take an entire classroom full of her.”  Ava’s picture will be displayed at BCJHS during the month of January and will also appear on the BCJHS school webpage.  A special thanks to Waltman Construction for sponsoring the BCJHS “Student of the Month”.  Ava will be receiving a “Student of the Month” plaque compliments of Waltman Construction. BCJHS Robotics Club



BCJHS Robotics Club
The BCJHS Robotics Team opened their season on Saturday, December 14th with a competition in Seymour.  Kai Koester and Wes Arndt advanced to the finals placing 14th out of 42 teams!  Jackson Daugherty and Jaxson Hayworth also represented BCJHS at the competition.  Great job guys!Robotics 1 Robotics 2
