Brown County Birth to Five…Enhancing the Quality of Life in Brown County
Indiana’s First Steps system is a family-centered, locally-based, coordinated system that provides early intervention services to infants and young children through age three who may have developmental delays or who have a diagnosed mental or physical condition that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delays. Service is generally provided in the home.
Foster grandparents serve in Brown County Schools preschool and kindergarten classrooms and the Brown County Head Start Program assisting referred children who are at risk academically, socially, emotionally or behaviorally. The students receive academic tutoring, friendship, mentoring and guidance that positively contribute to the children’s development in school and for life. Classroom teachers supervise the work of foster grandparents.
