In Ms. Christie’s math classes, students participated in a STEM challenge to teach teamwork and perseverance. 7th graders were tasked with building the tallest tower with only 20 spaghetti noodles, a yard of tape, and a yard of ribbon that could support a marshmallow. Mr. Pagnard was challenged to participate. He successfully engineered a tower that held the marshmallow 18 inches above the table. 8th graders had to figure out how to build a table that held books at least 8 inches off the table using a roll of tape and the daily newspaper. The group pictured managed to get theirs to hold 18 before the weight of the books began to crush their structure. They may have had some help from Mr. Garman. 🙂 Overall, the students had a ton of fun building their structures and engaging their brains after a long summer break. Ms. Christie’s class is ready for a successful year!
